Whether you keep the tree and trimmings up way after New Year, or you take them all down on the 26th, you probably experience that weird post-holiday sadness. All the twinkling lights are down, the bright and festive decor is packed up until next year, and you’re left with a blank canvas and empty spaces. Let’s fix that with 5 simple ways to freshen your home for New Year.
5 Simple Ways to Freshen Your Home for New Year
- Declutter – You knew I’d say this one first. Never underestimate the power of decluttering a space. Even a small space makes a huge impact. Grab a donation box, and a trash bag, and tackle a closet, an end table, or a whole room. Decluttering instantly freshens up a home.
- Rearrange the furniture – Instead of rushing out and buying something new, try rearranging your space.
- Bring in some green – House plants instantly make a room feel fresh. Plus, they purify the air and make breathing easier. If you’re looking for some non-toxic kid and pet safe plants, check out this post here: 10 Non-Toxic House Plants Safe for Kids and Pets
- Swap out Decor – When I need a change, and don’t want to spend, I shop my home. I love switching the pictures from room to room. It instantly changes the space by changing the wall decor. Try swapping out throw pillows, candles, pictures, and rugs. I have a ton of free printables in the Member’s Only Library!
- Add some color – Try changing out pillow covers or spray painting that old lamp to freshen up a space. Brining color into your home makes a huge impact. It doesn’t take much to make a big impact! (I LOVE these Pillow Covers!!)
Who says breathing life into your home has to be expensive or complicated? I’m a firm believer that the simple things are usually the best, even when it comes to home decor.
