Simple, Inexpensive Kitchen Window Hack
Good morning, y’all! I hope you had a great weekend. We did, but are they ever long enough? No. No they are not. We actually spent a lot of our weekend working on Eli’s bathroom, and baby proofing. It still blows my mind that she’s so tiny, and almost walking. She’s been a mover and shaker since day one.
A few weeks ago I shared on Instagram that Nick and I took down the cabinet from above the sink. It really made the kitchen feel so much bigger and more open, but the window felt puny. The window was the perfect size for under the cabinet, but I never used the cabinet. It made no sense to keep it up and it be empty.
I started brainstorming and decided that, instead of shelling out a few hundred for a new window, and who knows how much for installation, I’d buy a Roman Shade and pretend my window was big enough. The result? A win, and an affordable win at that.
In order to make the window appear larger, I just measured from the outside of the trim pieces so I could hang the shade on the wall about 10 inches above the window. I honestly don’t think anyone would ever notice that the window wasn’t that tall. I love it! Now, I just need a light and life will be grand. 😉
This the exact shade I ordered from Amazon, but I will say it is lacking in the privacy department. It’s SUPER see through, but it adds great texture to the room. It doesn’t overwhelm the space with pattern or color. Overall, I’m please with it, and it didn’t break the bank!
So tell me, have you done any fun little hacks to save money in your home? I’d love to hear about it!!
As always, thanks so much for stopping by!
