Are We Minimalist Yet? How its Going and What’s Gone!
Come take a sneak peek at our almost minimalist home. I’m sharing how it’s going, and what’s gone…so far!
I recently took a quick scroll through my Instagram account, and was totally shocked by how many posts from previous years I mentioned becoming a minimalist. I always felt like it was unachievable, and not realistic for “normal” people like us. Truthfully it is something I’ve always dreamed about. Only keeping the things we truly love, use, and need. It seemed so freeing. So liberating.
I am very happy to report that all of those dreams of owning less and feeling free were absolutely 100% correct. Removing the excess from our home has been the best thing I’ve ever done. Our entire home is more peaceful, and relaxing. Gone are the days of washing dishes for what seemed like hours on end. It no longer takes me an entire afternoon to pick up and clean. I can quickly sweep through the house and pick it all up in less than 20 minutes these days. It’s been life changing.
Am I done yet? NO. Not by a long shot. Even though we’ve probably removed 50 – 60% of our belongings, I KNOW there are still layers to purge, and things we don’t use or need to get rid of. Just the other day I sorted through the Dining Room again, and got rid of a whole box full of things. It’s like peeling an onion. Multiple layers, one at a time. Slowly but surely, the house has been transforming…and so have our lives!

- extra mixing bowls

Minimalism has allowed me to…
- slow down, and enjoy the simple things.
- enjoy the little moments with the people I love most.
- mark off the seemingly impossible outside projects.
- work in the garden more.
- be more intentional with my days.
- be less materialistic.
- save money.
- save time.
- ENJOY LIFE MORE.
I know pursuing a minimalist lifestyle isn’t for everyone, but if you’ve EVER been on the fence about it like I was for years may I encourage you to take the plunge.
You have done some magnificent work
