Simple Nature Inspired Fall Décor + FREE Printable
Today I am sharing how I approached a simple, nature inspired fall décor. Using what I had on hand, and what we were able to find in the great outdoors…Plus a FREE printable for you!
My number one goal for fall décor this year was to not buy anything new. I was thinking about what I wanted to pull out one day while we were on a walk, and we saw a turkey feather laying on the hillside. Then it hit me…I want nature to inspire my fall décor this year. Thus was born this simple nature inspired fall décor. I still kept things to a minimum, and really only decorated the dining room, and living room. Trying to keep in mind what I see out of our windows this time of year. Crisp leaves, ripening pumpkins, and cozy colors.
The dining room has always been my favorite room to decorate for the seasons. I’m not quite sure why. It’s the biggest room in our house, and probably the room we use the most. On top of eating three meals a day here, it also serves as our school room, and my office. As much as I love to decorate this room, I’m also very mindful about how much I put out. I don’t want the table cluttered with beautiful décor only to remove it and redecorate three times a day to eat. I usually always keep our table simple. This year I laid a eucalyptus wreath I ordered from Hobby Lobby a few years back down, and sat a faux pumpkin in the middle of it. Simple, and easy to remove when I need to.
I had a lot of fun decorating the mantle. I picked up the turkey feather we found on our walk, and I stuck it in with some faux wheat I found at Dollar Tree a few years ago. Eli had a few more he had collected and let me borrow them, too. I had planned to frame a feather or two, but decided against it. Turkey feathers have a natural arch to them. In order to frame them, I’d almost have to break the quill. I didn’t want to do that, so I created a turkey feather printable. I’ve added it to the Member’s Only Library for your printing pleasure! I really do like the way it turned out. Nearly as good as if I’d framed a real feather.
As far as the living room and kitchen are concerned, I keep things VERY simple. I swapped out some of the greenery for some dried hydrangeas, and clipped some tiny heather flowers growing wild by our creek. I used my blanket scarf as a throw in the living room. (For more creative ways to use a blanket scarf check out this post: Four Simple Ways to Use a Blanket Scarf in Your Decor) I swapped out pillow covers, and added a quilt my grandmother hand stitched. I love to add in cozy throws when the temperature starts to drop. It’s not uncommon to find one of us wrapped up in a blanket reading a good book in the living room. Especially as it gets dark earlier.
I started not to pull out the fall décor this year, but I’m so glad I did. It does add such a cozy feel to the house. The rich warm colors, textures, and smells make me excited about trips to the pumpkin patch, and warm apple cider.
Have you decorated for fall yet? I’d love to hear about it.
As always, thank you SO MUCH for spending a tiny part of your day with me. It means so much to me. Talk to you soon!
