Come See Our Simple Farmhouse Christmas Porch
Come join me as I clean and decorate our farmhouse Christmas porch! Christmas has finally arrived at our farmhouse.
Can you believe we are already into December? Does it feel to you like this year was nothing but a blink? Surely I’m not alone in feeling that way. On December 1st I realized that this was the first year in our 17 years of marriage I didn’t have any Christmas decorations out. I decided to change that by giving our front porch a good cleaning and sprucing up the old farmhouse porch for Christmas. I didn’t buy anything new. Plain soap and water is what I used. The difference is amazing. Come see our simple farmhouse Christmas porch!
Our porch was pitiful. I don’t know if you deal with this in your area, but annually we battle the pesky little Asian Lady Beetles. They’re stinky, and very invasive. This year it seemed like we had several days of them swarming. Once it got cold, most of them died. There were almost a million dead bugs all over our front porch. No kidding. lol. So I grabbed my broom and set to work. Sweeping and scrubbing until there was no sign of a beetle in sight. I also gave the furniture and siding a good scrub. Amazing how dirty it gets.
After everything was cleaned I decided to go ahead and pull out the Christmas décor. This year I’ve decided not to buy ANY new decorations. Period. I’ve got plenty to work with still. My seasonal décor is one of the last things I need to purge. I plan to this coming week once I get the house decorated.
You know me, I kept it simple.
Swapped out the pillow covers, and put some lighted garland around the door. I am amazed at how much instant “coziness” lights give off. Simply plugging them in was enough to get me in the Christmas spirit. I filled a basket with ornaments for the old trunk. Put a small tree in the old Coke crate. I used a blanket scarf on the swing. Simple. It’s just the best way.

Our porch needs SO much work. The floors need painting. The rail needs painting. The ceiling needs painting…I think you get the idea. One of these days, it’ll get done. Until then, I’ll just do the best I can with what I have. I am really so thankful for this sweet little old farmhouse.
Are you done decorating for Christmas? Are you like me and only just starting? I’d love to know, so tell me below.
As always, thank you SO MUCH for spending a tiny part of your day with me. I appreciate you more than I could ever say.
