Come See Our Simple Farmhouse Christmas Tour 2021

Happy Christmas Eve! I have decked the halls at Sunshine Valley. Come see our simple farmhouse Christmas tour for this year.

I’ve been busy decking the halls and keeping things simple here at the farmhouse. I’ve taken a slower approach to this Christmas than I have in my whole adult life. Every day I would add a few more Christmas touches to each room, and slowly over the last few weeks the whole house has become holly jolly. Today, I’m sharing our sweet simple farmhouse Christmas tour.

Living Room

I kept the living room VERY simple. We spend most of our time down here, so filling it up with unnecessary decorations just didn’t make sense. Actually, I ended up rearranging the furniture, getting rid of even more, and really pairing things down in here. We used to have a very large white tv cabinet in the corner, and we got rid of the tv all together. The cabinet found a good home with a friend of mine, and I’m so thankful they’re able to use it. It was always my favorite piece of furniture. We also ended up moving the piano back into the foyer. I enjoyed it in the living room, but it makes more sense to have it in there. It’s been nice to have the extra space in the living room for board games and floor puzzles.

I had some burlap ribbon that I used on our living room tree, and a collection of white ornaments. I really love how the rustic burlap accents the shiny, sparkly ornaments. This year I decided to put this tree down inside of an old dynamite crate I have. It’s the perfect fit! Every year I see the Christmas tree “collars” for the around the base of the tree, and I’m tempted to buy one. I just can’t pay that much for them. (Have I mentioned I’m frugal to the bone?!ha!!) Every year I think “I could make one!”. And every year, I run out of time. Such is life, I suppose. 🙂

This is my favorite view this year!

Dining Room

This year I decided to use my bigger flocked Christmas tree in the Dining Room. I am so glad I did. I love how elegant the dining room turned out. It’s very simple, but it feels so classy to me. I used white and gold ornaments on the tree paired with some white and gold ribbon I found in the Christmas decorations. I filled an old bowl up with some gold ornaments for the table centerpiece and put two wreaths on the Hoosier doors. Sweet and simple.

The only thing I bought new this year was that sweet little Nativity set on the mantle. I found that at Dollar General for $3. It’s really a kid’s craft kit, but I love it left natural wood. It’s the perfect accent against the black mantle

Kitchen

The kitchen has been my favorite room this year. I LOVE the way the little DIY Christmas wreaths turned out for the cabinets. (If you missed that post, you can check it out here: How to Make Simple Mini Christmas Wreaths) Besides those, I added a small tree to one of my large crocks. Something so simple added so much Christmas cheer. I really love having the glow of the lights in the kitchen at nighttime. It’s just so sweet.

Foyer & Master Bedroom

I mentioned earlier that I moved the piano back into the foyer. It just seems like that’s where it belongs. I kept it VERY simple and added a small table runner from Target a few years ago, and a couple little flocked trees.

Our bedroom is always so cozy at Christmas. The garland over the headboard is my husband’s favorite, and the bare scraggly tree is mine. The glow of the lights is just so peaceful and serene to me. I have really enjoyed snuggling up with a good book after a long day of mommin’ and farmin’.

Overall, the house is cozy, peaceful, and simple. Three words that make my heart happy. I hope that you have found a few moments of cozy, lots of peace, and even more simplicity this Christmas season. I also hope you’ve made time to appreciate the greatest gift of all given by God to mankind, His Son. My prayer is that God richly blesses you this Christmas season.
