How to Make Simple Healthy Homemade Granola
With only 6 simple ingredients and a little time you can have a delicious batch of healthy homemade granola. It’s a great alternative to heavily processed, sugar laden breakfast cereals!
I’ve made a few different varieties of granola in my day. This healthy homemade granola is by far the most requested one here at our farmhouse. The entire family enjoys it. It has just the perfect hint of coconut, and is perfectly crunchy every single time. It’s probably the easiest I’ve ever whipped up, too. Delicious AND easy? Definitely a win.
If you read my post about healthy kitchen swaps I mentioned starting a series of healthy, homemade pantry staples. This is the very beginning of that series. I hope to share the healthy homemade mixes, soups, cereals, and dressings we use here every day. Anything that’s heavily processed in your pantry can be recreated using healthy ingredients. This is one of my many passions, and I am so excited to share it with you.
Ingredients:
- 3-4 cups old fashioned oats
- 3 TB honey
- 1/4 cup maple syrup, pure
- 1/4 tsp. sea salt
- 1 1/2 tsp. vanilla
- 3 TB. coconut oil
Instructions:
- Preheat oven to 300 degrees F. Line large baking sheet with parchment paper
- Mix together all ingredients except the oats.
- Fold oats in gradually, being sure to coat them well.
- Spread evenly on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
- Bake for 20 minutes, rotate pan 180 degrees.
- Bake for an addition 10-15 minutes or until golden brown
You probably noticed that the oats aren’t an exact measurement. I say 3-4 cups because sometimes I like the granola to be more dry, and other times, I like to leave large clumps of wet oats that turn into crispy crunchy bits of granola all stuck together. If you do want the bits of granola stuck together be sure not to spread them too thinly on the baking sheet!

We eat this granola as cereal, in yogurt, or over baked fruit. It is simple, healthy, and SO delicious. It is the perfect alternative to a bowl of sugar laden cereal as a snack, or for breakfast. Since it’s so easy to whip up, and uses ingredients I always have on hand, it’s something that I make nearly every single week. Did I mention it smells divine when it’s baking?!
What’s been cooking in your kitchen? I’d love to hear all about it. As always, thanks so much for spending a tiny part of your day with me.
