How to Quickly Change the Atmosphere of Your Home
Today I am sharing three simple ways you can quickly change the atmosphere of your home, and focus on your blessings!
We’ve all been there. A good day can turn a curve really fast. A bad day can get harder. A hard day can get worse. A lot of times though, by simply changing the small things, and refocusing a little, the whole atmosphere in our home can quickly change. I don’t know about you, but I want my home to be my family’s haven. Their safe place. Their slice of paradise. I don’t want it to add to their stress after a long day. I surely don’t want it to ruin their good day. Doing these little things ensures our home is the peaceful haven we all want. Sure, they may not solve the world’s problems, but it will certainly go a long way in helping change the atmosphere of your home.
Light a candle
There is something soothing about the flicker of a candle flame. As simple as it is, lighting a candle can be just the boost your home needs. When I’ve had a less than stellar day, lighting a candle helps me refocus and make headway on my never ending to do list. I also like to say a quick prayer over a friend or family member when I pass by the flame. Use it as a reminder of all your many blessings. I guarantee it’ll change the atmosphere of your home.
Turn on some soft music
Music has such a dramatic impact on us. Have you ever noticed the various types of music playing in stores? I’ve actually heard it’s designed to make you shop longer and spend more. We were created to enjoy music, and to be influenced by it. When you want to quickly change the atmosphere of your home trying turning on some soft easy music. My favorite is always something classical or piano hymns.
Bake something delicious.
Memories are made in the kitchen. When your mood needs a boost, or your kids are getting antsy, get them in the kitchen and whip up something tasty. I don’t think there’s any better smell than freshly baked bread! Talk about an instant atmosphere boost. Not to mention, you get something yummy out of the deal.
Write down 10 things you’re thankful for
Pausing long enough to jot down 10 things you’re thankful for can be a huge atmosphere changer. Not because it changes anything in your home, but because it changes YOU. We’ve all heard “If mama ain’t happy, ain’t nobody happy.”. We chuckle about it, and make light of it, but we all know it’s true. If my mood is heading south, reflecting on what I’m thankful for can turn it right back around. We are so blessed. Even on the hard days, you can easily think of 10 things you’re blessed with. Sometimes we like to do this at the dinner table as a family. We each take turns until we’ve all said 5-10 things we’re thankful for. I encourage you to give it a try.
