How to Remove Wrinkles From an Area Rug

Unrolling a new rug is always exciting, but when you’re left with unsightly wrinkles it can be a real pain. Today I’m sharing how to quickly and easily remove wrinkles from an area rug.

If there’s one piece of décor that can majorly change the look and feel of a room it’s an area rug. They have the ability to set the tone of a room, and change the entire atmosphere of a space. They’re noting short of amazing. I LOVE the thrill of unrolling a new rug…until I’m left with rolled edges and major creases. Today I’m sharing how I’ve learned to remove wrinkles from an area rug using an iron and a damp towel!

The process is pretty straight forward. I preheated my iron on a steam setting, and laid a damp cloth on the wrinkle. I then gently pressed the iron onto the damp towel, and VOILA…no more wrinkle or crease!

After!!

This blew me away. It was so easy to do, and worked so well. I LOVE projects that take less than 5 minutes to complete, but make a huge impact. I also find it so funny that I let these little projects go for so long. After I’ve completed them I always wonder why I didn’t do it sooner. Funny how that works.

Now a little bit about this rug….I LOVE this new rug. I purchased it from Rugs USA back in September. (here’s a link if you want to check it out: Cream Coronet Medallion Area Rug.) It really warmed the living room up, but…Now, I feel like something is “off” in there. I can’t decide if it’s the curtains, or something else. It could be as simple as pillow covers, I just know something doesn’t feel right about the space.

I’ve majorly reduced our furniture through the whole house.

I love that there’s so much space freed up in each room now…it still just feels like the living room needs something…I’ve been thinking about painting, but I also have a couple of fun DIY’s up my sleeve for that room. One has been sitting in my garage for over 2 years. ha! Either way, I’ll be sure to take you with me on each little DIY adventure.

As always, thanks for spending a tiny part of your day with me.
