Kitchen Refresh Inspiration

My “Design Board” I make all of these photo collages on PicCollage. It’s an app I use on my phone. It’s so much fun to do.

Hey, hey, guys! I’ve been thinking about giving the kitchen a little bit of a facelift for some time now. I keep seeing this beautiful kitchen on Pinterest, and it has inspired me to paint our base cabinets a little darker color. I haven’t settled on a color yet, but I have some chalk paint in the color Mineral that is pretty close to the same color as in the picture. I LOVE it, but I’m afraid it may be just a tiny bit too dark for our long skinny kitchen. I may even use the same color I used in the Foyer and Mudroom. I’m just not sure yet. I think regardless of what color I use on the base cabinet, I’ll paint all of the trim to match. Maybe. You know, like everything else, I’ll fly by the seat of my pants on this project too.

Isn’t it lovey?! It’s from the blog Our Vintage Home Love, and it is absolutely perfect. Such a good balance of color and texture.

I’ve been seeing so many kitchens without upper cabinets, and I really like how open it makes the space seem. I’m not sure I could talk Nick into removing them, but after we took down the cabinet above the sink (Read that post here), I AM HOOKED. It made the whole kitchen seem SO much bigger.

What the kitchen looks like currently.

I love the idea of a wood floor, too. We’ve been talking about uncovering all of the original hardwoods in this 1890s house. It would be a HUGE job, but can you image how beautiful it would be!? Since the kitchen was originally a back porch, I know there’s no original hardwoods under there. I thought instead we could lay some new down. I’ve seen ALL kinds of tutorials on Pinterest using PLYWOOD! Do you know how affordable that would be? I’ve also seen several use 1×4 boards, which would also be pretty simple to do. The only down side is that it’s pine, which is soft. It would most likely dent and ding easily. Which would just add character, right? I think so too. Ha!

I’ve got a couple new lights for the kitchen, some new rugs, and those have already made a big difference. Except, now, my ceiling desperately needs repainted. Isn’t that how it goes? One project leads to another, to another, to another…

Besides working on the kitchen a tiny bit I’ve been dreaming up a little bathroom makeover. Maybe I’ll share some of my ideas with you soon!

I’d love to hear if you’ve been up to anything fun lately! Let me know below!! As always, thanks again for spending a tiny bit of your day with me.

I’d love to have you follow along!

Processing…
Success! You're on the list.
