Easy Bread Recipe & What’s Cooking Day 2
GOOOD Morning, friends and family! This morning I am sharing my very favorite, very versatile bread recipe.
I got my first bread machine about 15 years ago. It wasn’t anything fancy. Just a basic bread machine that we found at Goodwill. I brought it home, cleaned it up, and quickly became a BIG fan of homemade bread. It’s simple, and SO much better than store bought. The best part is I can pronounce every single ingredient in it, and I almost always have them on hand.
This specific recipe I have used in all kinds of ways. I’ve added garlic and Italian spices to it for spaghetti night (It also makes the BEST grilled cheese!!), I’ve made it into hamburger buns, I’ve even used it to make soup bowls. I’ve tweaked it, tested it, and I think, perfected it. So, without further ado, here’s my absolute favorite bread recipe!
Amanda’s Favorite Bread
Equipment
- bread machine
Ingredients
- 1 cup water
- 2 whole eggs
- 1/3 cup oil I use olive oil, or coconut
- 1/4 cup honey or sugar
- 1 tsp salt
- 4 cups flour I use 2 cups whole wheat, 2 cups white
- 2 tsps yeast bread machine yeast works best
Instructions
- Add all ingredients in the order your bread machine suggests. Usually liquids, salt, flour, and yeast in a well in the flour.
- Select the dough cycle on the bread machine. I try to keep a close eye on the dough. If the dough is crumbly, I'll add a little more water. If the dough seems sticky, I'll add a bit more flour. You want the dough to make a nice, shiny ball when it's mixing in the bread machine.
- Once the dough cycle is complete separate the dough into two greased loaf pans. Cover with a towel, and let rise in a warm place, until the dough has almost doubled in size.
- Bake at 350 for about 25 minutes or until golden brown
We almost always have tacos on Tuesday, but for dinner tonight I plan to make a pizza casserole with Italian sausage, pepperoni, cheese, and a cauliflower crust. I had this idea the other day, and thought it sounded delicious. If it turns out ok, I’ll share that recipe soon! I’d imagine if your family didn’t want the cauliflower crust you could also use regular pizza crust in it’s place. I’m all about extra vegetables on our plates though, and everyone here loves cauliflower. I plan to serve it with a big side salad, and some homemade ranch dressing. I’m super excited about dinner tonight, too. 😉
What’s on the menu at your place tonight? I’d love to know!
Thanks for stopping by today! I hope you have the best Tuesday ever.
Quesadillas with homemade salsa is our menu today.
I’ll definitely be trying this bread recipe! Thanks!!
