November Scripture Writing Plan: How to Cultivate Thankfulness in All Circumstances

Join our November Scripture Writing Plan focused on cultivating thankfulness and gratitude through daily Bible verses.

As we move into the month of November, our hearts naturally turn toward thankfulness. With Thanksgiving just around the corner, it’s a time when we reflect on the blessings we’ve received and the ways God has provided for us throughout the year. But gratitude isn’t just for a holiday—it’s a lifestyle. We will dive deeper into what thankfulness in all circumstances looks like with this November Scripture Writing Plan.

I’ve created this month’s Scripture Writing Plan to focus on thankfulness in all circumstances. It will help us turn our thoughts toward the goodness of God no matter what season of life we’re in. It’s easy to be thankful when life is going well. However, God calls us to thank Him even in the hard moments, the quiet moments, and the everyday moments.

This plan will guide you through verses that remind us of God’s unchanging love. The blessings we might take for granted, and how gratitude draws us closer to the heart of our Heavenly Father.

Why a Scripture Writing Plan?

If you’ve never done a Scripture Writing Plan before, let me explain why I love it so much. There’s something powerful about writing out God’s Word by hand. It slows us down. It helps us focus on each word and reflect on its meaning. When we take the time to write out Scripture, it sinks deeper into our hearts and minds, allowing God’s truth to transform us from the inside out.

This month, as we focus on thankfulness, writing out these verses can help shift our hearts from worry or complaint to gratitude and praise. Whether you’re facing challenges or celebrating blessings, daily gratitude has the power to change how you see the world—and how you see God’s work in your life.

A Month of Gratitude

The November Scripture Writing Plan is designed to be simple and meaningful. Each day, you’ll write out a verse that points you toward thankfulness and praise. From the Psalms to the New Testament letters, each verse is a reminder that no matter what we face, we have reason to give thanks.

Let’s take a closer look at a few verses that will guide us this month:

  • Day 1: Psalm 100:4-5“Enter his gates with thanksgiving and his courts with praise; give thanks to him and praise his name. For the Lord is good and his love endures forever; his faithfulness continues through all generations.”
The best way to start this plan is by remembering that our thankfulness isn’t just about what God gives us—it’s about who He is. His love endures forever, and His faithfulness never changes. We can always praise Him for that.
  • Day 5: Philippians 4:6-7“Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”
Gratitude is a powerful antidote to anxiety. This verse reminds us that when we bring our worries to God with a thankful heart, His peace will guard us. What a comfort it is to know that we can trade our anxiety for God’s peace!

Psalm 136:1 – “Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good. His love endures forever.”

  • Day 13: Psalm 118:28-29“You are my God, and I will praise you; you are my God, and I will exalt you. Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good; his love endures forever.”
Sometimes, we need to declare our gratitude even before we feel it. This verse encourages us to lift up God’s name and give thanks because He is good—no matter what our circumstances might be.
  • Day 24: Luke 17:15-16“One of them, when he saw he was healed, came back, praising God in a loud voice. He threw himself at Jesus’ feet and thanked him—and he was a Samaritan.”
This verse tells the story of a leper who was healed by Jesus, yet only one returned to thank Him. It’s a powerful reminder to pause and give thanks to God for all He’s done for us, rather than taking His blessings for granted.

How to Use This Plan

Using this Scripture Writing Plan is easy. Each day, set aside a few minutes to sit down with your Bible, a notebook, and a pen. Begin by praying, asking God to open your heart to His Word. Then, write out the verse for the day slowly, letting each word sink in. If time allows, meditate on the verse. Ask yourself what it reveals about God’s character and how it applies to your life.

Consider starting a gratitude journal alongside your Scripture writing. Each day, after you write the verse, jot down one or two things you’re thankful for. They can be big or small—a sunrise, a kind word, or God’s provision in a challenging situation. Over time, this habit of writing down your blessings will help cultivate a heart of thankfulness.

Reflection and Application

At the end of November, take some time to look back at the verses you’ve written. Reflect on how God has spoken to you through His Word this month. Ask yourself:

  • What has God taught me about thankfulness?
  • How has focusing on gratitude affected my attitude and perspective?
  • How can I continue to cultivate a thankful heart in my everyday life?

You might be surprised at how much your heart has changed by simply writing out Scripture each day.

A Heart of Gratitude for All Seasons

Thankfulness isn’t just a one-month practice—it’s a way of life. As we head into the busy holiday season, let’s continue to anchor ourselves in gratitude. Let’s remember that every good and perfect gift comes from our Heavenly Father (James 1:17). When we approach each day with a heart of thankfulness, we can face any situation with peace, joy, and confidence in God’s faithful love.

I pray that this Scripture Writing Plan blesses you and draws you closer to God this November. May we all give thanks in every circumstance, knowing that He is good. His love endures forever, and He is always working for our good.
