Quick, Inexpensive Kitchen Update + Life On The Farm

Ever find an item on Amazon that shocked you? I did this week. I’m sharing all about this quick, inexpensive kitchen update, and a little bit of life on the farm.

I usually don’t recommend impulse spending. Actually, I NEVER recommend it, BUT earlier this week I was checking out an order in my Amazon account, and one of those “selected for you” deals caught my eye. I’ve seen these little puck lights used in the “magic light trick”(More about that in a later post…) multiple times. They’re battery operated, usually very dim, cheaply made, and a waste of money. I was never tempted to buy them. Until Monday. I read the reviews, saw some review pictures, and just impulsively hit order now. It turned into the easiest most inexpensive kitchen update I’ve ever made.

I got these little lights on Wednesday evening, and had them installed in less than 5 minutes. They come with sticky pads for the bottom of the lights, or screws to attach to the cabinets more permanently. I wasn’t sure I wanted to commit to using the screws, so I just attached them with the sticky pads. They also come with a handy little remote that operates all six of the lights. The remote has the option to use the lights on a timer, and to dim them. I love that there’s no wiring to install, and installation was a breeze. Did I mention they came with all the batteries needed to operate immediately? Obviously these tiny puck lights have impressed me. You can check them out by clicking on the picture below.

I’m so surprised at how much light those little puck lights give off!! Here’s a picture of them off.

You probably noticed that my kitchen cabinets are several different colors too. I’ve been testing out different colors on the cabinets, and think I’ve finally narrowed it down to my favorite. I’m hoping give you all an update on that project next Friday.

Life On The Farm…

We had a pretty busy week this week. The weather has been warm, and the grass is growing faster than I ever remember. We had plenty of outside work to keep us busy, to say the least. I am SO thankful for green grass, and baby leaves.

I celebrated my 35th birthday this week. Emmy loves to help, and mixed up my birthday pancakes. I’m not sure how it became a tradition, but sometime when Eli was little pancakes became the official birthday breakfast. I don’t mind one bit. Pancakes are always ok with me. (You can check out a DELICIOUS Sourdough pancake recipe here)

What I’m loving this week…

Lauren’s gorgeous home, and the free Audubon Prints

If you don’t get emails from Lauren at Bless’er House, YOU SHOULD. She and her husband have created a beautiful dream home, and she has so many great resources. My current favorite is her FREE Audubon Bird Art Prints.

I’ve been refining my minimized wardrobe over the last few weeks, and I kept hearing good things about these Amazon Essential t-shirts. I ordered this two pack of black and olive scoop neck tees, and have to say, they’re super comfy. They’ve got a good bit of stretch to them, so ordering a size up is a good idea if you don’t like them “clingy”.

My “go to” evening tea has been Stress Ease from Traditional Medicinals. If you love cinnamon, I’m pretty sure you’ll love this tea as much as I do. Seriously just thinking about it brings my stress level down.haha

My Plan For the Blog…

You may have noticed a little shift in how I’ve been blogging lately. I’ve tried my best to post twice a week. Previously on Tuesday and Thursdays. I had really no rhyme or reason to my posting, I just tired to get two posts written every week. I’ve decided to be a little more predictable in my posting, and plan to share all about minimalism, organizing, and simple living on Tuesdays, and DIY projects, easy updates, projects here on the farm, and little bit of our life with you (Including products, books, other blogs, etc. that I’m loving that week.) on Fridays.

I haven’t shared a recipe on the blog since Nick and I had Covid in February. If that’s something you’d want me to start sharing again, please let me know!

I really do appreciate you all sticking around, and spending a little part of your day here with me on the blog. I hope you all have a fantastic weekend!

  1. It’s always crazy to me how adding simple things can make a big impact. Lights or a small lamp are always my go to but they are always a pain to walk around and turn off at night. Love the remote!!!
