Simple Farmhouse Christmas Decor – The Dining Room
Christmas is coming to the farmhouse! My goal is Simple Christmas Decor this year, and I can’t wait to share what I’ve done so far.
I’m dreaming of simple Christmas decor… I decided last week that we could use a good dose of Christmas cheer, and broke out the decorations a little earlier than usual. I am so glad I did. There’s just something about cold nights, and twinkling lights.
My plan for Christmas Decor
- Use what I have. I have SO many Christmas decorations in totes, it would be silly for me to spend money on buying all new. I plan to use what I have, and get creative.
- KEEP. IT. SIMPLE. I tend to over complicate, errr….everything. Seriously. If a little ribbon is good, a whole lot is better type of thing. Last year I learned that I actually really love unadorned garland and trees. Call me crazy but the simplicity of white lights on green branches gets my simple loving heart every time.
- Pops of red, and a little green too. This year, I’ve decided to use all the red I had from last year, and use some green I had stored away from previous years. I am LOVING the little bits of Christmas plaid.
Typically, I just dive right into every single room, and get it all done at once. This year, with a 10 month old, I decided to be a little more strategic and tackle one room at a time. It was a wise decision, and one that I’ll (hopefully) remember for next year.
The dining room is my favorite to decorate for Christmas!
I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it a million times more, the dining room is my FAVORITE room to decorate for Christmas. There are so many great places for garland and lights. I’m also particularly excited that I have the buffet in here this year. I LOVE to decorate it. I had a couple different ideas for decorating it, and decided to go with a very simple look of two small flocked trees and garland. I’m not 100% sure I’ll leave it, but for now, I’m enjoying it.
I have another fun post coming up featuring more ways to use a blanket scarf in your decor, and I’m super excited to share that soon. If you missed how I used one this fall you can find that post here, Four Simple Ways to Use a Blanket Scarf in Your Decor.
You get just a tiny sneak peak of one of the ways I plan to share a blanket scarf above. It really is such a versatile piece to have in your collection!
As we get closer to Christmas I plan to share a beautiful, inexpensive tablescape using what I have, and things from the Dollar Tree. I’m also very excited about that post.
I’d love to know if you’ve started decorating yet! I used to wait until after Thanksgiving, but anymore, I just can’t make myself.
I hope you guys had a wonderful holiday. As always, thanks for spending a little part of your day with me!
Here’s an image to pin for later…
