Simple, Inexpensive DIY Accent Wall Ideas

Have a wall that could use some love? I’m sharing a few of my favorite DIY Accent Wall Ideas today! Let’s add some pizzazz to your home.

Every room needs a focal point. Creating this focal point doesn’t have to be difficult or expensive either. You can take a room from “ehh” to “wow” with these easy DIY accent wall ideas I’m sharing today. I’ve used them all in our home, and I’m so amazed how it elevates the room, and draws your eye to an area you want to highlight.

Paint

  • The power of paint. We’ve all experienced what a good coat of two of paint can do for a room, but you can also create a simple accent wall with just paint. Either choose a shade or two darker or lighter than the existing paint color or go for a bold option that will really draw your eye to the focal point. I wanted to really highlight the fireplace in our living room. It is really one of my favorite features of our home. I chose to paint it a bold black against the light and airy decor. I am SO glad I did. It really draws your eye to the fireplace and makes it the focal point in a room. If you don’t have a fireplace, you can still use this same idea to highlight a wall in any space. Check out Pinterest for some really incredible accent wall ideas using only paint.

Stencil

  • This goes along with paint, but stencils are amazing these days. They’re not your 1990s goose stencils. They’re beautiful, and durable. I’ve used stencils in multiple rooms of our home, and I am always so pleased with the difference it makes in a space. I have ordered a couple of stencils from designer stencils and have been very pleased with the quality.

Board and Batten

  • This is another easy way to add a lot of character to a room. We’ve used board and batten in our family room, foyer, and the kid’s bathroom. It’s easy, affordable, and can be done in a weekend. That pretty much makes it the perfect beginner DIY project. I did the kid’s bathroom all by myself, so you know it can’t be too hard. If you want details on this easy project you can check the blog post out here: How To DIY Simple Farmhouse Board & Batten

Peel and Stick Wallpaper

  • I have added wallpaper to many spaces in our home, but peel and stick is definitely the easiest. I love that you can peel it right off without any effort if you tire of it. This is especially great for renters. I added some wallpaper to the wall as you go up the stairs and it made a huge impact. It took less than one roll, so it was very affordable too!

Sharpie Ship-lap

  • This is truly a frugal DIY project. It really made a huge impact on the wall behind our bed, and after all of these years I still like it. I did write a post about it too, if you’re interested. A How to Guide To Easy, DIY Sharpie Shiplap

As you can see it doesn’t take much to add a little pizzazz to your plain walls. I always love to do a project like this. I feel like they make an immediate improvement, and are definitely worth the effort.

I’d love to hear if you’ve been working on any DIY projects lately.

As always, thanks so much for spending a tiny part of your day with me.
