Simple Modern Farmhouse Design Board – Bathroom Makeover Inspiration
I’ve created a simple modern farmhouse design board to help inspire as I transform the second bathroom. Come see the inspiration for this small space!
I am SO excited to share this modern farmhouse design board with you today! I’ve been itching to freshen up the second bathroom for a LONG time now. This small bathroom faces north so the lighting is difficult in there. It’s always felt so drab, and blah to me. I’m hoping to change that with a few DIY projects, and some fresh paint.

There’s really nothing wrong with this bathroom, but it just feels a little lack luster. I hope to remedy that with some board and batten on the walls, a snazzy color on the bottom, some new flooring, a different shower curtain, and the works. I’d really love to be able to get a bamboo shade for the window, but I’m really trying to stick to a tight budget. I’m hoping that the flooring costs less than I expect, and I’ve got a little left over for a new window treatment. IF NOT, never fear, I have a handy dandy DIY option in my back pocket.
My plan for this bathroom…
I guess the overall color scheme will be gray and white. Sounds fairly boring, I know. I’m hoping to give it some pizzazz by adding in some pops of a warm, rich terracotta color. I also plan to bring in a low light loving snake plant. They are so easy to grow, and perfect for this darker side of the house.
I really don’t plan to make too many major changes. Hopefully the biggest impact will be when I get lighter, brighter flooring down. I am hoping to use some vinyl peel and stick floor tiles. We’ve used these in the past, but they’ve come such a long way since then! They’re all so convincing now. Seriously you have to have a pretty keen eye to detect the real deal from the vinyl these days.
I found a sweet little black and white striped shower curtain at Target, and I plan to update the peel and stick wallpaper in the linen closet. I’ll add a few new hand towels for a pop of color too. I also ended up taking the towel hook off, and plan to do a little DIY project for it. (You can check out my farmhouse inspired towel rack here, if you want! I made it for our master bathroom last year. I still love it!)
I’ll most likely try to find some nice natural baskets to add to the linen closet. I love bringing in as much texture as I can, and I especially love doing that with baskets!
I have given myself a deadline to have this whole project finished by the end of July. Stay tuned for the progress, and DIY projects I get into. I can’t wait to share them with you!! As always, thanks for spending a tiny part of your day with me.
