The Farmhouse Dining Room – Before & After

Good morning! Happy Friday. Another week is in the books. I hope you all had a happy, successful week. Today I thought I’d share another before and after our home…the dining room. It just happens to be one of my favorite rooms in the whole house.

I’ll share a few pictures I found of the house before we moved in. I actually think this is the first time Nick walked through the house. As I mentioned in my Before and After Kitchen Post, the house had recently flooded due to some broken water lines. Most of the drywall between the kitchen and dining room had to be removed, and redone.

We really had no idea how big that room was until we moved in. Every time we saw the house it was full of construction material.

We really didn’t make any changes in here until much later when I started painting everything sea salt. This room was the first I added bead board to, and after I saw the transformation I WAS HOOKED.

I repainted the dining room white when I painted the living room. It really did make the room seem so much bigger. I also painted the dining room table around the same time too, and I love it so much. I originally left it two toned with the wood on top, and as much as I loved it I decided the wood top was pulling too orange. Once I painted the top, I knew I made the right choice!

Just recently I did some more rearranging and put the big buffet I redid in the dining room. I’ve always wanted it in there, but I never thought it would fit!

Another favorite little makeover I did was the stairs!! First of all, I painted them. They were a very deep mahogany color when we moved in. They were super shiny, beat up, and very reminiscent of the 1980s. Which is cool, but ya know, I wanted something a little more 1880s. So, my quick fix was, you guessed it, white paint. I also did a fun little faux shiplap on the wall above the stairs too, and I love it so much!!

How it looks today!

I really haven’t spent very much money on any of these makeovers, and this room is no exception. The most I’ve spent was on paint! Seriously. I even got the rug for the dining room for less than $60!! That’s my favorite kind of find.

As always, thanks for spending just a tiny part of your day with me, and reading my posts. I hope you all enjoyed it. I can’t wait to share more with you!! In the mean time, you all have a great weekend!
